• Question: “What if I want a queen mattress and the mattress fits but the foundation won’t bend to go around a corner, up the stairs, etc.?”Answer: For a small upcharge you can get split (two-piece) foundations to accommodate a tight squeeze (where you can bend the mattress around the corner, but not the foundation). Split foundations are available for both full and queen sizes.
• Question: “Is there any extra charge for a king size set if I want a two-piece foundation…?”Answer: No – all king size sets come with two-piece foundations.
• Question: “What’s the difference in a box-spring and a foundation…?”Answer: 50 years ago box springs were built with large springs, like shock absorbers. Modern day box springs – often referred to as semi-flex box springs – have a simple piece of wire which is intended to allow the box to flex. A semi-flex box spring is approximately 2 inches taller than the average foundations and a bit more expensive; there is considerable debate over whether or not a box spring is, really, of any benefit to the life of the mattress. For instance, mattresses placed on waterbed platforms seem to wear as well, and, sleep as well as the same mattresses placed on a box spring. We typically sell sets with foundation but you can special order a box spring for a nominal additional charge.
